Biography

Dr. Matthew Denman is the Principal Engineer in the Reliability Engineering Department at Kairos Power located in Albuquerque, NM. Matthew is the Responsible Engineer for Kairos Power’s Mechanistic Source Term methodology which was recently approved by the U.S. NRC. Matthew also developed and modeled the Maximum Hypothetical Accident to support the Hermes Construction Permit Application. Before joining Kairos Power in 2019, Matthew worked at Sandia National Laboratories where he supported commercial nuclear power safety and licensing for both the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. the Matthew received his PhD in Nuclear Engineering under Neil Todreas from MIT in 2011 and his BS in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Florida in 2007. Matthew was the recipient of ANS’s David Okrent Award for Nuclear Safety.
